It Takes a Strong Village

Raising kids with special needs is challenging, but with persistent parents and dedicated doctors, extraordinary things can happen

The Ketcham family

When Tiffany Ketcham’s first son was born 15 years ago, she knew something wasn’t right. When Scripps pediatrician Mary Beth Casement, MD, came to her aid, she and her husband Kevin knew there was no better doctor for their children. What they didn’t know then was just how much they’d come to rely on Dr. Casement and how devoted she’d be to their family. Three children and years of continuing health problems, Dr. Casement was instrumental in pinpointing the root of the issue: a mitochondrial disorder. With Dr. Casement’s help, all four Ketcham boys are thriving. To read more about the Ketcham’s remarkable story, click here.
